Are we as a nation specialising in creating Crisis? The food crisis, the fuel crisis, the hunger crisis, the post election crisis, the education crisis, the population explosion crisis, the traffic jams and....name them.
The unfortunate fact is that all these crisis are man made and could have been prevented. The stingy part of it is,the humans who aid in the "manuacture" of this crisis are our political and governement leaders, the very people who are entrusted with the responsibility of protecting its citizens and promoting good governance. The executions of duties by these humans, unvails a Kenya of two tribes-the tribe of the RICH and that of the POOR.Where there seems to be a conspiracy from the tribe of the RICH to defraud, oppress and supress the tribe of the POOR.
What has the poor done to the rich in Kenya?
The Tribe of the RICH created the food and the fuel shortage. The Tribe of the RICH refuse to be taxed, the tribe of the rich are above the law ,the tribe of the rich abuse their offices and get promoted.
In their suffering, the tribe of the poor take a slice of the blame for allowing the tribe of the rich to have a field day in the crisis "manufacturing" field. They allow the tribe of the rich to divide them. They allow the tribe of the rich to incite them to fight against each other on ethnic grounds. And in the fight who benefits?... and who looses? You can guese. Why are the tribe of the poor still in camps?where are the tribe of the rich who they fought for?
ARE THE POOR TO BE BLAMED FOR THE GOVERNANCE PROBLEMS FACING THIS COUNTRY?.OR ARE THEY TOO HELPLESS TO CAUSE CHANGE? post your comments

The business of blame is too divisive. I b elieve once each individual rich, poor, belonging to tribe x understands what they are meant to be doing they will act accordingly. If the political class understand what they are meant to be doing they will do it if they fail to do what is right they not only fail the ones they represent they fail themselves.
After much thought about what ails as with regards to governance i sincerly believe that unfortunatly we have to undergo this state of being until a significant number of Africans are willing to do something about it. So will we shall have the occasional Mandela and Lumumba the reality is that they can light a light on the path but the rest of us have to follow. we must be ready to take the difficult route and speak to power.
I was just wondering whether africa is cursed, we make one step forward and two backwards. Just when we think we are moving we realize we are stationery, when we think we are standing we suddenly discover that the earth has been removed from underneath.
What happened in Uganda regarding NGO act is outrightly regrettable. If the government is there for the good of the people of Uganda which is also the stand of NGOs in Uganda, who is fooling who here? If the NGOs cannot with ease reach help to the people of Uganda in times of emergencies can the government still calim to tbe there for the good of the people? In this act whose interests is the government of Uganda serving? Peoples'? Never!
Africa has been held hostage by their leaders for far too long, at this age and time there is a global call for all to wake up to new realities and we must shake our leaders out of their slumber. We must learn to say NO to policies, laws etc that are not for OUR good. It is about the people not the leaders.
It is my most sincere sentiment that somebody must take lead in Uganda and crusade a NO campaign to this heinous and draconian NGOs act for the good of the peoples of Uganda. Historically, liberations from those kind of selfish lawas has never come easily and neither will this one. Stand up to your conviction and be counted in the number of those people who said NOOOOOO....

Jane, what you said is right. One question though is how can we compell or convence a significant number of Africans to do something about this state when most of the Africans politics are guided not by policies and issues but on personality? Imagine the way some people follow Raila,or Kibaki or Museveni or Besigye. It is a religious unquestioned following.Even when they are leading people astray and you shout HEY YOU ARE GETTING LOST.They will tell you NO our leader has said it.How and on what mechanism can we take the difficult tasks to speak on power
Titus, slowly slowly by making small steps we shall get there. People are awakening to the disappointment of their leaders. They now realise that while on the constitutency tour, they can pull placards and tell the PM, hello, food prices need to be rethought, and go ahead to ask him for the many jobs he promised. People are gradually learning to use the public space, we just need to enhance our efforts and create more forums. Am thinking, how many of us know when our MP is in the local office? Do we make attempts to seek audience with him/her? Have we written letters to them informing them of how they are scoring as per their election plegdes? Do we confront them during the constituency development meetings ( before they begin or end?) Do we try to lobby them on the bases of public values whislt tagging on their faith or religious affiliations? After all, they all took their oath of office on a Holy book( save for Mudavadi). I think, we are getting there in small steps. Lets not bash ourseleves too hard otherwise we shall have no stories of success to celebrate.
